The leader of Suntracs, Saúl Méndez, has denounced the detention of union leaders Carlos Vázquez and Florentino Martínez, as well as worker Carlos Gómez, at the road project towards Mendoza, while they were carrying out union activities. According to Méndez, the three were arbitrarily detained while supervising union activities and were taken to the La Chorrera barracks.
Méndez has indicated that these detentions constitute a clear violation of fundamental rights and the union freedom of citizens. The detainees were placed at the service of the Casa de Paz. Carlos Gómez, a union worker, reported that while talking to people looking for jobs at the site, they were approached by a crowd control group and taken to the police headquarters.
The union leader warned that they will take legal action and organize street mobilizations in rejection of these detentions, labeling them as unacceptable and an assault on the freedom of union leaders and workers.
